Reviving a Tradition
A wise man once told me there's two things you never break - your word and tradition. In keeping with this timeless wisdom, it's my pleasure to announce the revival of the MajorsPool tradition.
Almost 25 years ago, when Tiger Woods was a force of nature sweeping through every major championship, this simple tradition began. It was spring time in Ann Arbor, north face cocoons had been shed, the Oberon was flowing... and a close-knit cadre of golf enthusiasts convened for a ritual that was as simple as it was enthralling. Each participant would draft a team of golfers via a draft, their eyes set on glory. The stakes? Bragging rights, the occasional prize, and the thrill of the game. The goal? To amass the lowest cumulative score and emerge victorious, basking in the glory of being the pool champion.
In its early days, this pool was a labor of love, meticulously managed by hand. Over time, it migrated to the digital realm, one janky incarnation after another. Alas, as often happens, the tides of time and the demands of life led to its untimely hiatus. The leaderboard grew silent, and the tradition, it seemed, had reached its end.
But just like a well-loved 9-iron, some things refuse to be left behind in the attic. Today, I am thrilled to breathe new life into this cherished tradition. MajorsPool.com is back, revamped and ready for action, awaiting old friends and new challengers alike.
So, in the spirit of never breaking tradition, let's dust off those virtual golf bags and reignite the flame of friendly competition. May the best team win, and may our traditions continue to thrive, reminding us of the simple joys that bind us together.
Welcome back, MajorsPool. An online tradition unlike any other.
